The following literacy skills are covered in these centers

1) Types of sentences - Students determine if a sentence is declarative, interrogative, imperative or exclamatory. Students use a sorting mat (that includes definition of each type of sentence and what punctuation is used) to help them make their decision.

2) Table of Contents: Students read several examples of table of contents and then answer questions using the information given in the table of contents.

3) Groups of Three - Students work through 2 sets to find 3 words that are a group of synonyms.

4) Put it Together - Students are given cards that have two sentences on it. Students use connector words such as "and, but, because...etc..." to make the two choppy sentences into one smoother sentence.

5) Tell Me How to Do It - Students pick a card with a "how to" task on it, and write the directions using detailed steps on how to do that task.

Student directions, center materials, and a recording sheet are provided for each center
