A LOT OF LEARNING LOSS HAPPENS IN THE SUMMER.
It’s known as the “summer slide” and as a result, students often return in the fall forgetting critical reading, writing, and thinking skills that will have to be reviewed — or retaught all together!
BUT - THERE’S GOOD NEWS! IT DOESN’T HAVE TO BE THIS WAY.
Yes, students DO need a break from the structure of a school schedule and have the chance to relax, spend extra time with family and friends, and enjoy the beautiful weather.
However, if they go an entire summer without activating their brain - they will often inevitably “slide” back a grade level (or two!). However, we can put a few preventative measures in place to help keep the summer slide at bay.

It’s a virtual summer camp experience where students can join in from anywhere, at any time. And - when they do, they'll tap into their curiosity and uncover astonishing facts about life, our world, people, and historical events!
Students love learning jaw-dropping (and sometimes gross!) facts about the world around them, so we've complied some fascinating facts into a fun interactive experience using LINKtivities!

And while they are busy exploring through video, audio, text, jokes, and more - they’ll be keeping their minds fine-tuned and sharp!
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The LINKtivity Learning Summer Camp is a self-paced, 6-week summer learning program (although students can go at a slower or faster pace to suit their needs!).
Each week provides campers with a new high-interest topic that kids will explore through an interactive LINKtivity. (Includes 6 jam-packed LINKtivities, one for each week, with bonus activities to complete each day, or at their own pace)
Campers explore the weekly theme through a variety of multimedia: video, photographs, audio, and interactive digital features, and MORE!
Then, students are invited to take their learning off-screen with additional related learning experiences that encourage them to go outside, create art, check out related books at the library, create STEM projects, and even bake!
We've included over 40 extension activities that align with the content in the LINKtivities that students can complete throughout the summer!
No two weeks are the same, so your students will always have something to look forward to!
The best part is there's very little for YOU to do! Simply pass the done-for-you Family Letter with all the links and summer camp resources on to your students' families and your kiddos will be off to the races!
INSIDE EACH CRAZY, BUT TRUE LINKtivity, STUDENTS WILL:
Learn a crazy, but true fact related to the theme (themes: animals, food, daring expeditions, historical disasters, human body, and gross things!)
Watch a kid-friendly video for each crazy fact
Explore pictures and additional fun facts and interactive features
Have the choice to complete an extension activity (these are mostly off-line activities that are fun and use minimal materials)
Read some silly jokes related to the theme

A: The Crazy, but True! Summer Camp Experience is completely self-paced. However, the content has been designed to be spread out over the summer. With a total of 6 themed LINKtivities, we suggest completing one theme each week. This includes completing the content inside the LINKtivity plus the additional extension activities that correspond with the content in the LINKtivity. Within each themed LINKtivity, there are 7 crazy, but true facts to explore. This allows students to complete one fact per day, including watching the corresponding videos, exploring the photographs, interactive features, and completing the extension activity. Students can expect to spend 45-60 minutes each day on Summer Camp. However, please note: some of the extension activities will require additional time.

A: You will have lifetime access to the Crazy, but True! summer camp. This essentially means that if the LINKtivities are available online, you will have access to them! For our complete details, please read our terms of service

A: Nope! By purchasing the Crazy, but True! summer camp program, you are permitted to give access to your entire class. If additional teachers would like to give access to their students, they will need to purchase their own summer camp access. If you are a homeschool parent or family member, the summer camp material can be used by your children/grandchildren.

A: Giving students and families access to the summer camp materials is easy!
We provide a simple Family Letter PDF that you can provide to parents digitally (via email, secure online portal, etc). This PDF contains all the links to the resources needed for summer camp that families can access right from home!

A: Of course! If you don’t plan on sending your students off to the Crazy, but True! virtual summer camp, these LINKtivities work great in a variety of other settings including: Summer school, Fun Friday activities, Indoor recess, Fast-Finisher activities, Winter or spring break, Enrichment activities, & MORE!

A: Not really! Other than their curiosity, students just need a digital device and access to the internet! Plus, they'll want access to a few common household supplies like cardboard, paper, glue, scissors, tape, etc. to use for some of the extension activities. There's nothing complicated about this summer camp - just a ton of fun!

A: LINKtivities are typically designed for grades 3-5. The content discussed and the activities included will be most appealing and appropriate for students in these grades. Have a struggling reader? Audio support is provided for all text so students can confidently navigate each LINKtivity independently!
