These 5 centers include the following skills:
1) Representing Numbers: Student work through 3 sets of cards reading numbers in either word, digit, or expanded form. Students are then asked to translate the given form into one of the others ways a number can be represented. For example, if a number is given in digit form (ie. 34), they might be asked to write it in expanded form (30+4).
2) Red-Apple Rounding - Students round given numbers to the nearest tens, hundreds, and thousands place value.
3) Ways to Make 100 - Students are given several cards with equations that all equal to 100. Each equation has a missing numbers that students must add or subtract from the given number to make 100.
4) Patterns - Students work through several picture and numerical patterns to determine the rule as well as 2 missing numbers or pictures from the pattern.
5) Time for School - Students find digital and traditional clock matches and record their matches on a recording sheet.
